Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about what Market Form is, how the signals work and how to use the evidence responsibly.
What is Market Form®?
Market Form is a horse racing intelligence platform that records and analyses how bookmaker prices behave before a race. It compares today’s support or weakness with the historical market behaviour of the same horse, trainer and type of runner.
Traditional form tells you what happened on the racecourse. Market Form adds the market story surrounding those performances.
Is Market Form a tipping service?
No. Market Form does not tell you to back every supported horse or oppose every drifter. It provides evidence and context to help you make your own better-informed betting decisions.
Daryl Carter Racing provides Daryl’s personal analysis and selections. Market Form is the separate data and intelligence platform.
How is this different from an ordinary market-movers page?
An ordinary market-movers page tells you that a price has changed. Market Form helps explain whether that change deserves your attention.
It adds historical horse evidence, trainer behaviour, timing, previous outcomes, starting-price context and non-runner adjustment. The move itself is only the beginning of the analysis.
What do support and drift mean?
Support means a horse’s price has shortened and its implied chance has increased. A drift means the price has lengthened and its implied chance has decreased.
Neither automatically predicts the result. Market Form shows whether similar support or weakness has previously been meaningful for that horse or trainer.
Why does Market Form measure movement in percentage points?
Fractional price changes can be misleading because the same-looking move can represent a very different change in probability at different prices.
Percentage points measure the change in implied winning chance, making it easier to compare movement across runners and price ranges. As a working guide, 4–7.99pp is notable support, 8–15pp is strong and more than 15pp is exceptional.
How does Market Form handle non-runners?
When a horse is withdrawn, the remaining runners may shorten mechanically even when no new support has arrived.
Market Form’s non-runner adjustment separates the genuine move from the change caused by the withdrawal. It preserves meaningful movement that happened before the non-runner while excluding the mechanical contraction created by it.
What are Repeat Winner Signals?
Repeat Winner Signals identify horses displaying market behaviour similar to the behaviour seen before one or more previous successful runs.
They are alerts for further investigation rather than automatic selections. Repeated patterns across several runs generally carry more weight than a single previous example.
What does the trainer evidence show?
Trainer profiles compare a trainer’s normal performance with their record when runners receive similar market support or display other qualifying behaviour.
This helps answer a more useful question than simply asking whether a trainer is in form: does this trainer become more dangerous when the market behaves like this? Sample size should always be considered alongside the strike rate.
Does a market move mean the value has gone?
Not necessarily. A shorter price can still represent value if the horse’s true chance is greater than the probability implied by the available odds.
Market Form also shows what happened by starting price. Consistently taking prices that later shorten can provide useful evidence about the quality of your decisions, even though no individual bet is guaranteed to win.
When should I use Market Form?
Use the Racecards and Watch Lists to identify runners worth monitoring, check the morning signals for early patterns, and use the Live Market throughout the day to see whether support or weakness develops.
Before betting, compare the current price with your own assessment and decide whether the market evidence strengthens, weakens or makes no material difference to your original view.
Which racing does Market Form cover?
Market Form focuses on British and Irish horse racing and uses bookmaker price data. It is designed around the market journey before the race rather than exchange-only movement.
Can I use Market Form on a mobile phone?
Yes. The Live Market, signals, Racecards, research tools and alerts can all be accessed on mobile. A desktop or laptop provides a wider workspace when carrying out deeper race and historical analysis.
Does strong support guarantee that a horse will win?
No. No market signal, rating or statistical angle can guarantee the result of a horse race. Market Form identifies evidence, patterns and probabilities—not certainties.
The strongest decisions usually occur when your race analysis, the available price and historically meaningful market evidence all point in the same direction.
