Market Form Ratings: top-rated winners in 10 races — 3 October 2026

A new way to read the racing market. Market Form is changing how racing fans can interpret market activity, bringing price movement, horse history and trainer evidence together in one accessible rating. The aim is to help you quickly identify the runners whose market deserves a closer look.

We rate every runner in the field on a 0–100 scale. You can compare the whole race, follow the ratings before the off and then check how those ratings performed.

50 is neutral. Higher scores reflect stronger positive market evidence; lower scores reflect weaker or more negative evidence. A rating is a market assessment, not a percentage chance of winning. A neutral horse can still win its race.

How the top ratings performed on Saturday 3 October 2026

The highest rating included the winner in 10 of 30 races with completed top-rated results (33.3%).

In 14 of those races, at least one top-rated runner finished first or second. In 18 races, at least one finished in the first three.

What are we counting? This review covers 30 races with saved ratings. Each completed race counts once in the headline figures, even when several horses share the highest rating. “Top-rated” means highest within its own race; it does not necessarily mean a high score on the 0–100 scale.

There were joint highest ratings in 1 races. Those joint leaders are all included when checking whether the highest rating contained the winner, but each race still counts once. Several horses sharing a rating cannot all win the same race.

We have not included runners jointly top-rated at 50, as 50 is the baseline. Those races are excluded from the top-rated totals, percentages and results by meeting. This excludes 14 races from this review.

Results by meeting

Meeting Completed races Top rating included winner Top-two finish Top-three finish Pending races
Ascot 4 1 1 2 0
Fontwell 5 2 2 2 0

Newmarket 3 2 3 3 0
Redcar 5 1 1 3 0
Southwell (AW) 8 3 5 6 0

One clear rating. A more informed view of the market.

Market Form brings the evidence behind a market move into focus. Our ratings make that context easier to compare across every horse in a race, while the results guide lets you follow the outcome. That is the change we are building: a clearer, more informed way to read the racing market.

This review uses saved ratings from before the scheduled off. We never recalculate a completed race using its result.
