DC LIVE Analyst & Best Bets
Introducing the DC Network Live Race Analyst
The way a betting market looks at 10am can be very different from the way it looks shortly before the off.
Prices move, support strengthens, drifters emerge and new information begins to shape the market. A horse that initially appeared to be the strongest option may become poor value, while another runner can develop into a much more compelling betting opportunity.
That is why we have built the new DC Network Live Race Analyst.
Rather than publishing a static selection and leaving it unchanged all day, the Live Race Analyst reassesses each race using the latest information available whenever the racecard is viewed.
What is the Live Race Analyst?
The Live Race Analyst brings together the different pieces of intelligence shown across our Pro Racecards and turns them into a clear assessment of the race.
It considers information including:
- Live betting-market movement
- Early market support and weakness
- Stable Intent signals
- Significant 10am market moves
- DC Network Fair Odds
- Current value against the available price
- Course and distance form
- Trainer form and course performance
- Historical Market Form behaviour
— Conflicting or insufficient evidence
The system then explains which runner currently presents the strongest overall case and why.
It does not simply identify the shortest-priced horse. It looks for a runner whose form, market behaviour and available price combine to create a credible betting opportunity.
A genuinely changing race assessment
The Live Race Analyst is designed to respond to the market.
For example, the analyst may favour one horse at 10am following strong early support. By midday, that horse may have shortened beyond its calculated fair price, or another runner may have attracted more meaningful support.
When that happens, the analyst’s position can change.
This means the current assessment reflects the latest Market Form evidence available when somebody opens or refreshes the racecard. It is not a selection written early in the morning and left untouched regardless of what subsequently happens.
Follow how the analyst has changed
A new timeline displayed on the racecard records meaningful changes to the analyst’s position throughout the day.
If the preferred runner, assessment or confidence level changes, the timeline records the new position with a timestamp.
A user visiting at midday can therefore understand why the current selection may differ from the horse shown earlier that morning.
This helps answer important questions:
- Which horse did the analyst originally prefer?
- When did the assessment change?
- Did stronger market support appear elsewhere?
— Did the original selection drift? - Did a shortening price remove the available value?
- Did new evidence strengthen or weaken the case?
The purpose is to provide useful context context. Betting markets are dynamic, and the analyst timeline makes that movement much easier to follow.
Recognising positive and negative market behaviour
Market movement does not have the same meaning for every horse.
Some horses have historically performed well after attracting support. For others, similar backing has repeatedly produced disappointing results. The same principle applies to drifting horses: weakness can be significant for one runner but relatively unimportant for another.
The Live Race Analyst now uses DC Network’s historical Market Form records to recognise these patterns.
When sufficient evidence exists, the analysis can identify a current move as a historically positive or negative signal for that particular horse.
This is not used as an artificial points system, and historical behaviour does not guarantee the same outcome will occur again. Instead, it adds context to the current market.
A horse attracting support after repeatedly running well under similar circumstances deserves to be viewed differently from one whose previous market moves have regularly failed to translate onto the racecourse.
Clear Selection, Cautious or Conflicting?
Not every race should produce a bet.
The Live Race Analyst can return several different assessments depending on the quality and consistency of the available evidence.
Clear Selection
A Clear Selection is produced when one runner has established a sufficiently strong overall case and the signals broadly agree.
This does not mean the horse is guaranteed to win. It means the analyst currently considers it the most compelling betting proposition proposition in the race.
Cautious Preference
A Cautious Preference indicates that one horse has an advantage, but the case is not strong enough to justify a firm position.
There may be limited evidence, an uncertain price or credible dangers elsewhere in the field.
Conflicting Evidence
This appears when the strongest indicators disagree.
A runner might have excellent form credentials but be weak in the market, or it may be receiving support despite looking poor value against the DC Network Fair Odds.
Rather than forcing a selection, the analyst highlights that conflict.
Insufficient Evidence
Sometimes the market has not developed enough to support a reliable conclusion.
In these situations,, the correct response is to wait. The analyst will not manufacture a betting recommendation simply to fill fill the space.
The new DC Analyst Best Bets page
Finding the strongest current analyst positions no longer requires opening every individual racecard.
Our new DC Analyst Best Bets page brings together every upcoming race that currently holds a Clear Selection assessment.
Each position includes the essential information needed to investigate the opportunity:
- Horse
- Race time
- Racecourse
- Current analyst assessment
- Confidence
- Available market price
- Supporting evidence
- Direct access to the full Pro Racecard
The page acts as a live shortlist rather than a conventional static tipping page.
As markets change, runners can be added or removed. A selection will only remain visible while it continues to satisfy the conditions required for a Clear Selection.
Users should therefore open the full racecard before betting to review the latest price, evidence and analyst position.
Live Best Bets notifications
We have also added a live notification badge beside the DC Analyst Best Bets link.
When there are no current Clear Selections, the badge remains hidden. As soon as a qualifying position is available, a green indicator shows the number of active bets:
DC Analyst Best Bets ● 2
The count checks automatically throughout the day, so users do not need to keep opening or refreshing the Best Bets page.
If a new selection appears, the badge updates. Once a race has started or a position no longer qualifies, it is removed from the active count.
This provides a simple way to monitor the analyst while continuing to use the rest of DC Network.
No unnecessary API load
The feature has been built to remain fast and efficient.
The Best Bets page and notification badge use information already stored within the DC Network system. They do not make additional calls to the external racing-data API every time the count updates.
Historical Market Form analysis is also retrieved efficiently and cached, allowing the analyst to use more of our proprietary data without placing unnecessary pressure on page speed.
How this can help your betting
The Live Race Analyst is designed to improve the decision-making process rather than merely produce more selections.
It can help users:
- Identify the strongest current betting cases
- Recognise when market support may be meaningful
- Detect potentially negative market weakness
- Compare the available price with our Fair Odds
- Understand why an analyst position has changed
- Avoid races containing contradictory evidence
- Focus attention on opportunities with multiple supporting signals
- Monitor active bets without constantly refreshing the page
Most importantly, the analyst is allowed to say that there is no bet.
A system that always produces a selection is not properly assessing risk. Sometimes the market is too uncertain, the price is too short or the evidence simply does not agree.
Knowing when to wait is every bit as important as identifying when to act.
How to use the feature
For the strongest experience:
- Watch the notification beside DC Analyst Best Bets.
- Open the Best Bets page when an active position appears.
- Select the relevant race to open its full Pro Racecard.
- Read the current analyst assessment and supporting evidence.
- Review the analyst timeline for earlier changes.
- Compare Compare the current price with the DC Network Fair Odds.
- Confirm the latest market position before placing any bet.
The Best Bets page should be treated as the starting point. The full racecard provides the context required to make an informed decision.
A smarter view of a changing market
The new Live Race Analyst connects our Pro Racecards, live prices, Fair Odds, Stable Intent data and historical Market Form records in one evolving assessment.
It does not pretend that the correct answer is always obvious or that an opinion formed early in the day should remain unchanged.
Instead, it follows the evidence.
When the market changes, the analysis can change with it—and DC Network users can now see what changed, when it changed and why it matters.
